Will Network Marketing Companies Ever Get A Clue?
Last night I was reading a article on my local news stations website. The story was about a court ruling involving Meleuca and Max international. According to the report Max International knowingly recruited top marketers away from Meleuca and encouraged them to recruit others from their downlines to join them. Thus harming Meleluca.
Now I am going to give a quick opinion on this. I however do reserve the right to change my opinion once I read the court documents.
I wish judges understood the relationship between distributors and their companies better.
If I as a Realtor decide to leave a brokerage and I have a team of agents who work with me and I take them. There is really nothing the Broker can do. The agents are part of my Real Estate team. I trained them. I give them leads. I help them in learning how to be successful agents and we intern share the commissions our Broker pays us. The same works in Direct selling. My upline friend signed me up. Trained me. Taught me how to be a successful Networker. Sent me to seminars within our upline team system. In turn we shared in the commissions that were paid by our company.
We did not have the secret recipe for their success or any of their products. Neither do any of these top leaders. We were also told from the time we signed up and quickly reminded by the company any time a distributor did something displeasing to them. They would waste no time terminating their contract. The problem is most of these companies have not realized that it works both ways. If my upline who I have worked with trained with and ran the roads with left for another company. I would not need to be recruited away. My loyalty lies with those who trained my and walked by my side. Not a company who’s only care is whether or not I make an order every month. Besides, you did recruited us as independent Business owners or IBO’s as they are commonly called. Now these companies are saying they are not independent. They are employees. Which is it? Do you then lie to people up front when you tell them it is their own business. Or is Its time Melaluca like Amway and Quixtar and others grow up and realize people are not their property. People follow leaders and when the leaders go so go the followers.
I am to this day very proud to be the partner with my upline mentor as well as my Real Estate Partners. Even though in both instances. We have been with more than one company. The team and the relationships are still what matters.
