WAM!!! Nice to meet you now Join MY MLM!
Has this ever happened to you. My good friend and business partner Ron got a new friend on Facebook the other day. She seemed like a nice young lady. He being single added her as a friend. It took about one half of a conversation and WAM!!! Nice to meet you now Join MY MLM!
Now understand Ron and I have almost 40 years of combined Network Marketing Experience. When we pick a company. We plan on staying with it for quite a while. We will however look at anything that comes allong. That being said one must realize we have watch many many many companies come and go over the years. I personally have seen over one hundred companies marketing plans over the years and have said no to all but four. One of which I joined just as a joke and my daughter likes their breath mints.
This young lady broke the first cardinal rule of online marketing. Get to know your customer first. One chat does NOT do this. People join Networks for two reasons. One they like and trust yes trust the person they are getting involved with. The other reason is they have a positive effect from a product. Oh yes their is a third. They are humoring their teenage daughter who like lip gloss and breath mints delivered to the house in cute boxes. More about that another time.
So here is the second conversation. They had. Oh your company X (which is one of the fastest growing companies in the US right now) is a second rate company compared to this start up company Y that I am in. The reasoning behind this my company said so. Amazing!! We get these all the time and it surprises me on how many people truly believe that just because they found you. You are going to pick up and leave a lucrative business or better yet take your group with you to help them. Yea lets see my core team have known each other for over 30 years and are connected with hundreds of people that make millions in network marketing. Our Mentors are like parents to us. They are two of the worlds top marketers and I see or talk to them almost everyday. So Missy how are you going to replace that? Yes yes you have a college degree in business management. That will replace over 100 year of wisdom in this industry by our mentors right. Now I am not trying to attack an individual but a mentality. I have many times contacted successful network marketers for my business. I however in almost all cases a long standing relationship with these people. They are friends and associates we have known for years. Some left one company for another and we run across them at the right time and wow. Instant teammates.
So when either one of us gets jumped by a marketer online I wonder more and more about people. First Facebook is a place to socialize with your immediate friends and family. Yes I market on Facebook however my first priority is to my relationships not marketing. Many of them have joined my team over the last few years. Twitter however is a different animal. On Twitter marketing is expected along with the socializing. With Twitter many people are looking to Network. The moral of the story build relationships first. Business’s Second.
