I guess you should be careful where you keep your money.
I found this absolutely astounding. I had heard the old wise tales of people keeping their savings stuffed in their mattresses. This however is probably a good reason why you should not do that.
Apparently an Israeli woman mistakenly threw out a mattress with $1 million dollars stuffed inside, she thought that she was doing her mother a favor by surprising her with a new mattress. However upon finding out that the mattress was filled with money a frantic search began through tons of garbage at a number of landfill sites.
This made me think about how many people actually stuff mattresses with their life savings. Due to the fact that they were not even sure which landfill the mattress ended up at this could be a lost cause quickly. I remember my Great Grandmother telling me how she invested money in the stock market while my Great Grandfather always took money out and buried it in a mason jar out by the back shed.
One day the grandkids found the money and dug it up. Not knowing whom it belonged to they gave it to Grandma. That was fifty plus years ago. I guess the moral of the story is I guess you should be careful where you keep your money . Guess I ought to go dig that coffee can up from out by the ditch.
