Why We’re Broke and How To Fix It

I am posting this great artical by Naomi Dunford. It came up from a great friend and leader Lance Smith from Facebook. I felt it was well worth reposting.

Why We’re Broke and How To Fix It

Take a Hummer full of average self-made millionaires. Strand them in the desert. Strip them of their money. Take away everything they own. Rob them of their connections, their networks, their families. Ten to one they’re millionaires again in less than five years.
Can you be a millionaire in five years? As it stands right now, probably not. So what is it that’s different about John Q. Millionaire? Why can he take his kids to Euro Disney and you can’t? Because he depends on himself and the rest of the world depends on, well, the rest of the world.

We used to be self-reliant. For 40,000 years of human history, we depended on ourselves. We were part of a small network of people who helped each other out, but mainly we fixed our own clothes, cooked our own meals and traded our own chickens to make our way in this world. We were Jacks of all trades. When our roof broke, we didn’t hope we had money left on our Visa to pay a specialist to come out and fix it — we cut down a tree and went up the ladder. If the wheat crop was poor, we always had the cows. Wife took in some sewing work, husband ploughed the fields. If one thing went wrong, we didn’t cross our fingers and pray the big man down the lane would waltz in to take care of us. Sometime around the industrial revolution, we gave the responsibility of feeding our families to a bunch of old guys in suits that cost more than our car. Or horse, as the case may have been.
Rich people came in and, as part of an income diversification strategy, decided to build some factories. We started to specialize. We became widget stampers, widget joiners, widget movers. Our self-identity became one of what we did to which widgets for eight or 10 or 12 hours a day. Western culture became one of efficiency. How could we do it faster? How could we make it easier? How could we work it cheaper?

Then, on April Fools’ Day, 1913, Henry Ford added a conveyor belt to the whole process and generalism went to hell. Flash forward 95 years and we live in a world of 10-page job descriptions that itemize exactly what we do — and more importantly, what we don’t do. We put cute little comic strips in our cubicles that scream “Not my department”. We do the same thing, every day, for years at a time. Optimally, we do our one thing and one thing only more efficiently than any other person in town. And in order to ensure we have time for all of this efficiency, we have outsourced the rest of our lives to other specialists. Specialists grow our food and make our clothes and educate our children while we go be specialists for someone else. We believed we were making things easier. Instead we were handing over every tiny scrap of personal power we had left. Because in addition to making life soul-suckingly boring, this specialist employee system made us really, really vulnerable. We are totally dependent on a bunch of strangers to make sure little Madison and Jacob can keep going to Baby Salsa. We depend on everybody else standing at the conveyor belt to not screw the whole thing up, increasing company costs and decreasing employee salaries. We depend on the dude above us, the one who kissed so much ass he got off the conveyor belt, to dole out our raises and not favor the guy next to us. We depend on the marketing department to do a good job selling the stuff that comes off the conveyor belt. We depend on the guy who owns the conveyor belt to act in a fiscally responsible yet compassionate manner. We depend on the public at large to keep their own conveyor belt jobs so they can afford to buy the widgets we’re cranking out so efficiently. And if every single one of those people on whom we depend does their job the way we hope they will, we get a check every couple weeks that pays most of our bills. That’s good, right? That makes it all worth it, doesn’t it?

How The Rich Stay Rich The primary breadwinners among us hesitate to tell our spouse that the raise might not come through this year. We whisper, so the kids don’t hear, that maybe our vacation has to wait. Maybe the remodeling plan was a little ambitious. Maybe we can make do with the old Corolla. The stay-at-home wife tries to stretch the turkey to make a few more brown bag lunches, pastes on a smile and tells the little ones that Daddy’s doing the best he can. The single mom tries not to cry when she tells her kids that of course she misses them when she’s at work. She would have loved to be with them when they had chicken pox but she couldn’t afford to take the day off.

Why does this happen? Because we rely on one stream of income and construct our entire lives around the panic that it might disappear. The rich, on the other hand, have been handily avoiding this trap for years. Their golfing buddy the financial planner has been ensuring they diversify their investments so economic downturns don’t hurt them. The conveyor belt hysteria doesn’t affect them in the slightest. Our paycheck can’t even send little Aidan to hockey camp. We’ve got nothing left to invest in anything, let alone a diversified portfolio. But as the pundits so wisely explain — right after explaining that the ticket to riches is cutting back on your latte consumption — that diversification is the key to wealth, security and freedom. As in, you’re not supposed to put all your eggs in one basket. Would you put your family’s life savings in one stock? Would you put little Emma’s college fund into something you don’t understand, has no guarantees, and over which you have zero control? No? Then why are you doing it with your family’s income?

Recently, in a small town in Ontario, the area’s largest employer closed its doors. Most of the town, trained only in the art and science of making canned soup, found themselves out of work. A few thousand soup makers live in a town where nobody wants to pay them to make soup. Now all of them are going to try to find a way to apply their skill sets to other employers in the area. The competition is fierce, and their mortgages are on the line. Except there are no other major employers in the area, least of all ones that can make use of Jerry’s 12 years of mushroom chopping experience. Some of them will find jobs, sure, and good for them. But many others are going to have to reinvent themselves. Reinvention is difficult enough. Reinventing yourself, your family’s lifestyle, your social status and your skill set in an economy where everybody else is trying to do the same thing is virtually impossible. But let’s rewind the clock a few years for our favorite mushroom chopper, Jerry. Imagine if Jerry had found a few hours a week, when he wasn’t at the conveyor belt, to diversify the sources of his family’s income. Maybe he started a mushroom blog and now makes a few hundred bucks a month in affiliate income promoting the latest kitchen gadgets. Perhaps his wife picked up the knitting needles and started whipping up a few shawls and baby blanket. Maybe she found she was good at this knitting gig and started designing a few patterns in her spare time. Jerry’s family picture looks a whole lot different. Flash forward again to the present, and Jerry’s mushroom chopping job is in jeopardy. His buddies at the conveyor belt are starting to freak out, but Jerry’s little income streams have been growing and they’ve started to add up. Jerry and his family now have options. They have choices. They have leverage. They have freedom. All because Jerry and his wife decided to turn off the CSI reruns and look into diversifying their income streams. He didn’t have to make a big, loud proclamation that he was quitting his job at the plant. They didn’t have to spend a fortune on office space or new computers or ergonomic chairs. They didn’t need business cards that said, “We’re serious business owners, dammit.” They just needed to diversify. For hundreds of years, diversification has been the luxury of the rich. Now, in the wake of broad globalization and mass internet access, we have a ticket to escape from this madness. It has never been easier to connect with suppliers, clients, customers, searchers, readers, fans.

Will Network Marketing Companies Ever Get A Clue?

Last night I was reading a article on my local news stations website. The story was about a court ruling involving Meleuca and Max international. According to the report Max International knowingly recruited top marketers away from Meleuca and encouraged them to recruit others from their downlines to join them. Thus harming Meleluca.
judge funny cartoon scales justice-thumbNow I am going to give a quick opinion on this. I however do reserve the right to change my opinion once I read the court documents.
I wish judges understood the relationship between distributors and their companies better.

If I as a Realtor decide to leave a brokerage and I have a team of agents who work with me and I take them. There is really nothing the Broker can do. The agents are part of my Real Estate team. I trained them. I give them leads. I help them in learning how to be successful agents and we intern share the commissions our Broker pays us. The same works in Direct selling. My upline friend signed me up. Trained me. Taught me how to be a successful Networker. Sent me to seminars within our upline team system. In turn we shared in the commissions that were paid by our company.

We did not have the secret recipe for their success or any of their products. Neither do any of these top leaders. We were also told from the time we signed up and quickly reminded by the company any time a distributor did something displeasing to them. They would waste no time terminating their contract. The problem is most of these companies have not realized that it works both ways. If my upline who I have worked with trained with and ran the roads with left for another company. I would not need to be recruited away. My loyalty lies with those who trained my and walked by my side. Not a company who’s only care is whether or not I make an order every month. Besides, you did recruited  us as independent Business owners or IBO’s as they are commonly called.  Now these companies are saying they are not independent. They are employees. Which is it? Do you then lie to people up front when you tell them it is their own business.  Or is Its time Melaluca like Amway and Quixtar and others grow up and realize people are not their property. People follow leaders and when the leaders go so go the followers.

I am to this day very proud to be the partner with my upline mentor as well as my Real Estate Partners. Even though in both instances. We have been with more than one company. The team and the relationships are still what matters.

For the past 25 years our team of network marketing veterans have been building teams of leaders to help create the success. If your are looking for success click here and come join us today.

Bazi Xelr8 Founders and Officers Disrespectful and despicable

In more than 20 years in the Network Marketing Industry I have never been so angry.

Bazi Xelr8 Founders and Officers are not only disrespectful but also despicable.  You guys are right up there with the jerks at Amway that terminate distributors and then turn around and sue them for leaving. When I first read about XELR8 terminating all of their distributors just days after a major corporate event. I thought wow sounds like a typical corporation who uses their employees and throws them away when their usefulness is done. Sandy Greenburg  you are no different than Rupert Maydolph. My hope is that every distributor sends back every ounce of product for a full refund. Cancel there autoships and then demand refunds for the trip to Vegas. For those who are not involved in this industry. Distributors go to these events on their own dime. Unlike employees. They foot the bill to go learn the latest their companies have to offer. These events are big business. In this case a big rip off. It is bad enough to terminate a whole company without notice to go retail. But to make thousands on a corporate event for distributors when you know this is happening. Deplorable and despicable. Shame on you XELR8.

Network Marketing: Friendship before Money.

If  you have never been involved with Network Marketing. You have missed a wonderful way to gain life long friends and lasting relationships. In my 20 years of Network Marketing. I have gained countless friends. With those friends I have laughed, cried, celebrated massive wins and mourned for weeks for loss of great friends. Some of whom never held high positions in a company. Didn’t have thousands of distributors following them. They did however have friends. Lots of friends. What brings me to writing this is my next door neighbor has gone into the hospital and he may not make it through the week.

Who can't use more friends?

Who can't use more friends?

I wouldn’t even know about it. Except we have been having an ongoing feud over some 45 yr old trees which were fully grown when they moved in 20 years before. The interesting thing was what his wife said when she said he was in the hospital. She was worried that she had no friends once he was gone.

We were stunned at this comment. Someone with no friends? They are members of several clubs in town and have show cars they take all over the country. But no friends to confide in? No support system? This shocked me. I have close friends all over the world. People that have shown up for me when I have been in need. All of them from Network Marketing.

If you think Network Marketing is all about money. It is always at first. But quickly as teams grow and friendships develop a sense of brotherhood is formed a bond formed by company, team, growth and leadership.

For me that’s what Network Marketing is all about.

WAM!!! Nice to meet you now Join MY MLM!

Has this ever happened to you. My good friend and business partner Ron got a new friend on Facebook the other day. She seemed like a nice young lady. He being single added her as a friend. It took about one half of a  conversation and WAM!!! Nice to meet you now Join MY MLM!
Now understand Ron and I have almost 40 years of combined Network Marketing Experience. When we pick a company. We plan on staying with it for quite a while. We will however look at anything that comes allong. That being said one must realize we have watch many many many companies come and go over the years. I personally have seen over one hundred companies marketing plans over the years and have said no to all but four. One of which I joined just as a joke and my daughter likes their breath mints.
This young lady broke the first cardinal rule of online marketing. Get to know your customer first. One chat does NOT do this. People join Networks for two reasons. One they like and trust yes trust the person they are getting involved with. The other reason is they have a positive effect from a product. Oh yes their is a third. They are humoring their teenage daughter who like lip gloss and breath mints delivered to the house in cute boxes. More about that another time.
So here is the second conversation. They had. Oh your company X (which is one of the fastest growing companies in the US right now) is a second rate company compared to this start up company Y that I am in. The reasoning behind this my company said so. Amazing!! We get these all the time and it surprises me on how many people truly believe that just because they found you. You are going to pick up and leave a lucrative business or better yet take your group with you to help them. Yea lets see my core team have known each other for over 30 years and are connected with hundreds of people that make millions in network marketing. Our Mentors are like parents to us. They are two of the worlds top marketers and I see or talk to them almost everyday. So Missy how are you going to replace that? Yes yes you have a college degree in business management. That will replace over 100 year of wisdom in this industry by our mentors right. Now I am not trying to attack an individual but a mentality. I have many times contacted successful network marketers for my business. I however in almost all cases a long standing relationship with these people. They are friends and associates we have known for years. Some left one company for another and we run across them at the right time and wow. Instant teammates.
So when either one of us gets jumped by a marketer online I wonder more and more about people. First Facebook is a place to socialize with your immediate friends and family. Yes I market on Facebook however my first priority is to my relationships not marketing. Many of them have joined my team over the last few years. Twitter however is a different animal. On Twitter marketing is expected along with the socializing. With Twitter many people are looking to Network. The moral of the story build relationships first. Business’s Second.

Social Network Marketing is here to stay.

Are you one of the thousands that have become Network Marketers for the first time this year?

Did you jump on the bandwagon because of Facebook and Twitter?

Are you wondering why so many opportunities have shown up on social networking sites lately?

Are you tired of all of the ads on social networking sites for MLM’s?

Let Social Network Marketing Begin. We love it when a plan comes together.

Let Social Network Marketing Begin. We love it when a plan comes together.

Get used to it.  Social Network Marketing is here to stay. In the last few months. As Twitter and Facebook have become more and more popular. Several Network companies have jumped on the social networking bandwagon. Conversely thousands have jumped on these companies bandwagons. I am guilty of this I admit. Although I am committed to my primary business. I have found it too hard to resist the temptation to jump over and check out some of these opportunities. I mean why not check them out. Its good to see what others are doing and who knows. You may stumble upon something great you would have missed otherwise.

This new trend really started with Efusjon. This company came out of nowhere and suddenly everyone on your list was getting in. Unfortunately for them continuous battles with the Federal Trade Commission over its compensation plan and the fact several key distributors have already jumped to other opportunities. It will most likely die out in the next six months. Now don’t get mad at me if you are in Efusjon but I over twenty years of experience in the industry and I have watch thousands of companies come and go.

Several others have followed KISS Club, Yoli, Dubli and many others. Two that have stood out recently. Evolv and Pure3x. Evolv’s campaign simply asks you to join a pre launch with no explanation of what is being sold. It is however signing up 10 to 30 people per minute according to its back office. Pure3x is Launching within the next few days and is planning a massive campaign online as well as offline. The preliminary commercials are hilarious but a little crude on the graphics side however, I feel that they will quickly become internet favorites.

The day of the Social Network Marketer has come.

Are you one of the thousands that have become Network Marketers for the first time this year? Did you jump on the bandwagon because of Facebook and Twitter? Has the Efusion blowup got you singing the Blues? Well don’t feel down. We have the solution for you.

Pure Energy Club is in a pre-launch state that will allow the next few distributors that get involved to take full advantage of the powerlines of a Matrix. Without the worry of the FTC coming down and changing the deal the week after launch. Unlike Efusion you will be able to build a long term income without having people being able to buy in above you. This will give you more profitability and stability as time goes on. With many of the current top Efusion distributors jumping ship quietly over to Pure Energy Club. It won’t be long before its gone. How do I know this. I was sitting in a room full of them last night. Listening to how upset they were that Efusion didn’t look in to the legality of their marketing plan. People going from 60,000 a month to 3,000 due to a lack of Network Marketing common sense. On the part of Efusion. Sorry the FTC has rules for a reason. Promises made promises broken. Well that is not how all companies work. There are always a few bad apples in the barrel as the old saying goes. After the upset is over. Where do you go from here.

Pure
